DEUS Cafè, isn’t just a cafè. Here you can treat yourself to a seriously good coffee, while someone makes you an even better surfboard or vintage motorbike. This one stop shop is located in the formerly very quiet location of Canggu that is beginning to grow in popularity. Thousands of surf and motorcycle enthusiasts make the pilgrimage to The Temple of Enthusiasm every year to witness a world and way of life created by Australian business man and ex Mambo boss, Dare Jennings. Deus Ex Machina is his customised motorbike brand that has stores in Australia, America and Indonesia.

This cafè is nestled in a very peaceful spot off the main road down to Echo Beach and is surrounded by working rice fields. A huge showroom full of clothing, surfboards, artwork and motorcycles should be enough for you to spend your time and money on. If not, then there is a full sized half pipe skate ramp on one of the bordering walls just outside. Naturally, it is very popular with the kids and is part of the reason why during the day, Deus is so family friendly.

Pan Asian Cuisine is served in the restaurant and the menu has a bit of everything that will keep your entire party happy and full for days – sushi, curries, rice paper rolls, dumplings, salads and so much more to sink your teeth into. You will need to get your times right though, no arvo breakfasts here; it is served between 7am and midday, lunch from midday to 6pm and dinner following on until 10pm when the kitchen finally closes. The fully stocked bar is not missing a thing and cocktails are clearly their specialty, with a team of total hospitality experts shaking up a storm and getting patrons in the mood for a good night out.

A special mention must go to one of the coolest and most versatile outdoor spaces in Bali. At the rear of the venue there is a grassed area surrounded by raised wooden huts. Every week they throw fun parties with live music and on alternate nights, they show movies on a giant screen in an outdoor cinema set up in front of a sea of beanbags. In one of the raised huts there is Dorsey’s Barber Shop; a vintage rock and roll barbershop that specialises in men’s hair cuts, straight razor hot towel shaves and beard trimming. Seriously, what else do you need? A tattoo, that’s what. And a taco. On Tuesday’s, Deus do ‘Tatts and Tacos” – yes it’s true. Free tattoos. Just make sure you get there at 6pm to put your name on the board to claim your 20 minutes with a tattoo gun wielding artist. Your wish is their command and they will draw whatever you like.

The party atmosphere paired with the professional functionality of the huge and beautifully constructed wooden space is what really makes this place unique and a definite must see on your visit to Bali.

DEUS Cafè is open daily from 8am – 10pm
