InBali were lucky enough to have a sneak preview of the much anticipated and hottest new opening in Canggu.

The Slow.

Upon arrival, the vibe and surroundings are not that of Bali but perhaps cosmopolitan London or New York. A light and airy space, minimalist concrete vibes with tropical twist. In the entrance hangs two striking pieces of art by Rostarr an artist living in Brooklyn widely known for his abstract polymorphic paintings, sculptures, and black-and-white calligraphic drawings, setting the tone for the aesthetic Island stay.Walking through the corridor to Room 3 it feels like an art gallery with a symmetrical sculpture by MAD SAKI aptly named ‘Garuda of death metal’ in keeping with the Indonesian surroundings. The ground consists of 4 oversized Private pool suites. The rooms are in keeping with the rest of the space, eclectic art hanging on raw brick walls with local textures and warm touches. Every detail adds something. Room 3 showcases one of Kate Bellm’s pieces from her under water series. Kate is well known for her raunchy fashion photography. The bathroom features rain shower with a view of the lush green garden, surrounding the pool. Each room has your very own lounge area with The Slow’s designed skeleton rattan chair. The whole suite makes you feel instantly at home in this tranquil space.

Breakfast starts at 7 am in room 13, the gallery area. The long communal table seats around 20 people. Perfect place to catch up on a few emails. The coffee machine is stationed there giving the feeling your in a cafe or coffee shop. If you fancy one of the The Slow’s breakfasts, it is best enjoyed in the restaurant. Minimalist seating under a hanging botanical garden with bohemian feel.

Fave breakfast bites have to be the buckwheat, pumpkin spiced pancakes topped with caramelised orange and cashew cream. The description nor the photo does it justice. The paleo style charred fish on a bed of greens and poached egg is great for something savoury and healthy of course.Head chef Shannon Moran has created a menu ever changing menu which leaves you wanting to try it all!The menu includes refreshing bottled tea infusions and healthy juice extractions. The inventive drinks selection, inspired by mythology and history, designed by Mr Sid, highlights specialty batch spirits with all cocktails pre-batched in-house.The restaurant by night turns into a moody space with sounds by LA’s Reverberation Radio pumping throughout, great spot to prop yourself up at the bar with a ‘Dirty nana’ their inventive take on a dirty martini which like all of the cocktails is different and delicious. Even the bar is a work of art, showcasing the likes of Chris Searl, Dan Askill and Simon Lekias. After aperitifs at the bar, sitting down at Dinner the concept is politely explained by the waiter, Small sharing plates for the table including creamy Burrata with tamerillos, octopus cooked for five hours then charred on the infamous flying grill and shoulder of lamb with turkish carrots and yogurt. Finishing off with Chef morans homemade magnum which is as divine as it sounds.

Suitably satisfied it is time to head back to the bar for a digestif, a must try is the rice goddess, smoked rice bourbon, orange bitters.Fortunately, The Slow is located in Canggu, one of Bali’s Hottest surf breaks if you fancy something more active, as alluring as it is to just lounge around, try all the delectable treats, appreciate the art and hang by the pool.

The Slow is a place to explore; One of the best roof tops in Bali with distant views all the way to the Bukit is an ideal hangout to grab a refreshing cocktail, peruse the hallways of art, not forgetting the top floor and above all as they say here, relax your bones and stir your senses.

The Slow opens for business on 14th of December at 2pm. Get here fast, take it Slow.
